Ministry of Health announced that 2,217 Covid-19 patients had recovered from the illness in 24 hours.
In a press statement issued by the Ministry’s CS Mutahi Kagwe on Tuesday evening, 1,542 patients who recovered from the infection, were from various health facilities, while 675 were from the Home Based Isolation and Care Unit. The sum of patients who have recovered from the virus stands at 96,578.
Elsewhere, the number of patients in the ICU rose to 205, from 200 reported to be in the facility a day ago. 46 are on ventilatory support while 130 are on supplemental oxygen.
The Health CS also noted that 1,576 patients had been admitted to various health facilities nationwide, while 6,182 patients had been admitted to the Home-Based Isolation and Care unit.
“ 14 deaths have been reported in the last 24 hours, 6 occurred in the last one month while 8 are late death reports from facility record audits. Cumulative fatalities are 2,258,” stated the Health CS.
On the other hand, 394 people tested positive for the virus in the last 24 hours.
The cases were confirmed, after 2,923 samples were analyzed, pushing the sum of cumulative tests to 1,523,313.
So far, 139,842 Covid-19 cases have been reported in the country since the first case was published in March 2020.
The country’s positivity rate stands at 13.5Pc.
Distribution of cases.
In terms of age, the cases were distributed as follows:0-9 (14), 10-19 (23), 20-29 (52), 30-39 (97), 40-49 (69), 50-59 (66), 60 and above (73).
In terms of County distribution, Nairobi recorded 246 cases, Kiambu 29, Machakos 23, Uasin Gishu 22, Kitui 20, Nakuru 15, Kajiado 10, Kilifi 10, Trans Nzoia 5, Mombasa 4, Murang’a 3, and Makueni 2.
In Nandi, Taita Taveta, West Pokot, Elgeyo Marakwet, and Embu counties only 1 case each was recorded.
