A student from Nyang’ori boy’s secondary school in Vihiga, was on Sunday, 17 January 2021 arrested after he assaulted and killed the school’s guard in the morning. According to reports from the Directorate of Criminal Investigation, the student had became unruly and attacked other students using a metal rod. The security guard identified as Willy Mukonambi intervened about the matter while going about normal duties in the school.
The 18-year-old form three student is then reportedly to have turned on the guard where he hit him on the head repeatedly, using the metal rod. The security guard was rescued by his colleagues who together with the school nurse rushed him to Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital, in critical condition.
Unfortunately, the guard succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment. The suspect has been placed in custody and will be charged with murder contrary to section 203 as read with section 204 of the penal code.
