An infant in Kabartonjo was on Wednesday rescued from the edge of death after a 15-year-old minor caused abortion and dumped the fetus in a pit latrine.
Detectives drew from the area confirmed.
“The officers who were acting on an infanticide report from the local Assistant Chief, Joshua Kiptosok, had hastily demolished the pit latrine in a bid to retrieve the fetus, only to discover that there were two infants immersed in the sludge of human waste,” said the DCI.
Additionally, the sleuths added that; “What would have in ordinary circumstances prompted the celebration of two bundles of joy in Kesumet village, turned into a somber occasion as curious men and women, the young and old, witnessed in dismay, as the infants were retrieved,”
One of the infants was declared to have lost its life on arrival at Bartabwa Health Centre in Kabartonjo.
The second infant was referred to Baringo County and Referral hospital and is receiving specialized treatment.
The 15-year-old suspect was arrested and will be processed for her crime by the law.
“Parents, guardians, religious leaders, and the society at large, equally have a responsibility, to mentoring and guiding children as they grow up to be responsible and accountable for their actions,” advised the DCI.
