Kenya recorded 460 Corona Virus cases on Monday, according to a press statement issued by Health CS Mutahi Kagwe.
The cases were realized after a sample size of 2,753 were examined in 24 hours bringing to 1,520,390 cumulative cases so far. The sum of positive cases stands at 139,448.
The positivity rate stands at 16.7%.
Of the cases, 446 were Kenyans while 14 were foreigners; 250 were males while 210 were females. The youngest was a seven-month-old infant while the oldest was 89.
Consequently, the positive cases were distributed by age as follows; 0-9 years (14), 10-19 years (17), 20-29 years (66), 30-39 years (111), 40-49 years (98), 50-59 years ((73), 60 and above (81).
Monday’s positive cases were distributed in various counties as follows; Nairobi 295, Kitui 62, Machakos 29, Kiambu 28, Nyeri 12, Kajiado 9, Kilifi 4, Mandera 3, Laikipia 2, Meru, Mombasa, Nyandarua, and Kakamega 1 case each.
The Health CS also noted that 20 patients died of Covid-19. From the deaths reported, one occurred in the last 24 hours, 10 in the last one month, while 9 were late death reports from facility record audits that occurred on diverse dates. The sum of fatalities has now climbed to 2,224.
Cumulative deaths by age were as follows; 0-9 years (45), 10-19 years (17) 20-29 years (91), 30-39 years (199), 40-49 years (312), 50-59 years (495), 60 years and above (1,062).
On the other hand, CS Kagwe confirmed that 178 patients tested negative for the illness. 99 patients were from various health facilities, while 79 were from the Home Based Care and Isolation. Total recoveries, now stand at 94, 361.
In his statement, the CS stated that a total of 1,590 patients were admitted to various health facilities countrywide, while 5,998 patients were on the Home-Based Isolation and Care.
200 patients were reported to be in the ICU, 40 of whom were on ventilatory support and 130 on supplemental oxygen. 30 patients were on observation.
