Kimilili Police officers kill residents while enforcing curfew rule


Kimilili town has been brought to a standstill after a police vehicle ran over a Mama Mboga and killed her on the spot while reinforcing curfew orders.

According to reports from Kimilili which were confirmed by Kimilili MP Didmus Barasa, police officers on Wednesday evening were chasing women with a police vehicle in curfew hours to reinforce the new orders in place to curb the spread of the novel pandemic. According to Didmus Barasa, the police vehicle rolled several times where a number of people were injured as one lady died on the spot.

”I call upon IPOA to investigate this unfortunate matter that a police vehicle while chasing women who were trying to fend for their families this evening,rolled several times injuring several people killing one innocent business lady;A Mama mboga on the spot.It’s disturbing and ironical that law enforcement officers have turned out to be major security threat to the people they’re supposed to protect.One day they will pay heavily,it may not be today, tomorrow or a day thereafter but their day of reckoning will come any way. Fred Matiang’i Karanja Kibicho . I will be exploring Parliamentary powers over the same to ensure justice for the berieved family,” Dismus posted on facebook.

Those who were injured in the awful scene have been rushed to Kimilili District Hospital for medication.

Didmus Barasa said that police officers have turned to be a security threat to the people they’re protecting. Kimilili is one of the areas in the Western region that the task to dawn curfew begins at 7 pm to 4 am after Bungoma county was among 13 counties that were declared covid-19 hotspots.
