By elections are scheduled on 4th March this year in Kabuchai and Matungu after the both constituencies lost their members of parliament. Justus Murunga who was Matungu’s member of parliament died on 14th November 2020 after difficult in breathing when at his home in Kakamega County. After which on Tuesday December 15 the sit was officially announced vacant. On the other hand Mp Lusweti died on Nov 14th 2020 after long illness and the sit was declared vacant on 18th December 2020.
Parties have done nominations for their representatives and even the IEBC has confirmed the aspirants documents. It is seen to be a tight race. It is also among the first race for the new party United Democratic Alliance (U. D. A). This new party has presented representatives in both the constituencies, and everyone looks at it to see if they will win, because the party is believed to be the Deputy Presidents William Ruto’s party. So that can be used as advantage to the representatives to win.
Ford Kenya and ANC agreed to share the constituencies, so Ford Kenya will have a representative in Kabuchai while ANC will have a representative in Matungu. The party leaders Moses Wetangula(Ford) and Musalia Mudavadi said they will continue to work together even after the end of the by election s

In Kabuchai this are the aspirants : Kibiti David Barasa (U. G. M), Amos Wafula Wekesa (F. P. K), Kakai Evans Masinde (U. D. A) and Joseph Majimbo(Ford Kenya)
