On 9th July, 2021 one of the prestigious higher institution of learning in East and Central Africa , announced a major shake up in what it termed as ‘reconstruction’ by the management led by Professor vice chancellor, Stephen Kiama .
Under the reconstruction, the university is set to scrap off several colleges , which will affect head of colleges together with students . The wave is set to send home several teaching staff in time where many public universities are facing inadequacy of teaching staff to cater for needs of hundred thousands of students enrolled each year to seek higher education thirsty.
As it stand already fees for Liberal arts masters courses like communication and MBA has been hiked by over 120% ,from 275,000 to 600,000 for two years program.
Parallel students are also affected, they would be forced to dig dip down in their pockets for those doing undergraduate degrees in commerce, Economics and law as their fees being raised up by 70%
